A politician from Le Havre, France, Jean-Baptiste Gastinne was elected city councilor in 2008 on the list led by Antoine Rufenacht, who appointed him as city councilor for sport. In 2011, he was elected deputy mayor under Edouard Philippe’s mandate. He put him in charge of territorial development. In 2017, he became the first deputy mayor in charge of quality of life, prevention, and safety. From 2014 to 2019, he was Vice-Chairman of the CODAH and then of the Le Havre Seine Métropole Urban Community. He is responsible for economic development, tourism, and higher education. He was elected mayor of Le Havre and president of the Communauté Urbaine Le Havre Seine Métropole from March 2019 to June 2020. In 2010, he was elected regional councilor for the Haute-Normandie region under President Hervé Morin. Since 2015, he has been vice-president of the Normandy Region in charge of transport and the Seine Valley. He has been 1st deputy mayor of Le Havre since 2020. He is in charge of urban planning and environemental policy. He is also the 1st vice-president of the Le Havre Seine Métropole urban community, in responsibe for economic development, tourism, digital development, and innovation.
Jean-Baptiste Gastinne, chairs the Le Havre Port Center association, the Le Havre Etretat Tourist Office and the Cruise Club. He holds an agrégation in history-geography, and a doctorate in history from Paris IV Sorbonne University.
